Sally fourth

After a 9-year-long living audition, and an 'open' recruitment process, BBC Breakfast has turned to Sally Nugent to move formally into the central red sofa position vacated by Louise Minchin.

Sally, 50, was born in Birkenhead, and went to Upton Hall School (Faithful Companions of Jesus) where, she says, she hated PE and hockey. Then followed a degree in Communication Arts and French at Huddersfield, with a year in Besançon, and a job as a broadcast journalist with Radio Merseyside. She eventually covered sport at Breakfast, and first depped as 'full' presenter in 2012.

She likes nice jewellery from her favourite shop, David M Robinson, who she credits occasionally on Twitter. She shares an agent with Clare Balding, Anita Rani, Fiona Bruce, Emily Maitlis, and, spookily, Dan Walker, which presumably makes an equal pay deal a cert.
