Charity begins

How are things hanging at The Sharp Foundation, the charitable wing of BBC chairman Richard Sharp ?

In the last reported financial year, income was a nice round £250,000, further nicely rounded to £312,500 thanks to Gift Aid. Richard and daughter Caroline have decided to keep their assets in cash, so that they can be more agile with charitable giving.  (Slightly odd that someone with Goldman Sachs in their cv isn't making money from money; has Richard not seen what's happening with inflation ?)

Their biggest recipient over the year - Robert Colvile, who, I presume, is the same Robert Colvile who is Director of the Centre for Policy Studies. He got £42,400, to help keep the wolf from the door.
