I'm told that Sir Robbie Gibb, who joined the BBC as non-executive Board member for England in May , held his first meeting of the BBC England sub-committee earlier this month. There are supposed to be three meetings a year.
Sir Robbie, appointed to the job by The Queen In Council (aka The Cabinet), has some leeway in who he invites to this group. You have to note that, for an organisation almost continuously in the diversity spotlight, with the departure of Tom Ilube in June, there's no-one of colour on the main public service board, and no-one of colour at the recent meetings of most sub-committees, including those covering Wales and Scotland. Perhaps Sir Robbie has spotted that, and widened his team. We'll wait and see.
