World Service presenter Dan Damon is off, after 46 years at the BBC.
After first walking in to Broadcasting House as a trainee engineer in 1974, I will be leaving the BBC at the end of this month. I've been accepted for ordination training in the Church in Wales. I will tell you about that journey in a podcast starting in July.

A BBC producer of my acquaintance alleges that, with 44 years full-time service, he's now the longest current survivor. I''ve promised that I won't point out where he's hiding, but I'm sure, with your help, we can find a staff member who has been licence-fee funded even longer.
But Dan's service wasn't full-time or uninterrupted, Bill. He came and went. He was working as a presenter for Cardiff's CBC ILR station when it launched in ?1980, and he spent time with a Scandinavian satellite station, ScansatTV3, and as a freelance news reporter in the 1980s...
ReplyDeleteThere speaks a proper Media Correspondent. Thanks, Nick.
DeleteDan hosted the evening phone in on LBC for about five years in the early 80’s
