Cap's off !

Little jigs of joy may be breaking out in the homes of newly-exited Beeboids.

On 4th November the Government introduced a £95k cap on exit payments for those leaving public sector employment, down from the previous £150k limit. This led to an unseemly one-way rush to the emergency doors at the BBC. But now, the Government has concluded that the cap may have had 'unintended consequences' and will be revoked.

Those who left the BBC post 4th November will be remembering their negotiations with the tightly-clenched fists of HR, in which they may have given up on  a) 3 month notice period of salary, b) tax free redundancy pay in lieu of notice, and c) long service leave,  might now be doing some quick recalculations.  And there's more to consider for News executives Kamal Ahmed, Gavin Allen and Joanna Carr as they discuss their post closures and future options.
