Another Paul

 The "senior independent panel member" selecting the next chair of Ofcom will be Paul Potts CBE, 71. 

He started as a trainee reporter with the Sheffield Star straight from school, Worksop College, in 1968. He worked for the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Express, where he became Deputy Editor. He joined the Press Association in 1995 as Editor-in-Chief and retired as Executive Chairman in 2010. He declared his friendship with John Whittingdale when working as his specialist adviser on the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Privacy and Injunctions in 2011; in 2012 he was appointed as a non-executive at Channel 4. 

In 2016, Culture Secretary John Whittingdale appointed Paul Potts as an unpaid trustee of the Imperial War Museum. 

In December 2019 Paul joind the Board of news agency SWNS, where John Whittingdale had been a member of the advisory board until his return to the DCMS.  In the same month, he joined the board of Times Newspaper Holdings.
