New BBC DG Tim Davie has set quite a challenge for his rival for the job, Charlotte Moore. Charlotte moves up to Board level, and now has to shape the only stuff that matters to licence-payers - The Content (save for News and programmes made for and by the Nations & Regions).
No more micro-managing Strictly, or reading all the scripts for big new series. To do the job right, she essentially has to replace herself as Uber-Controller BBC1, 2 and 4. She has to re-align with BBC Studios, get a bit more collaborative with programme-makers outside London, and work out better relationships between iPlayer, non-news Online, Sounds, Bitesize, Children's, and Sport. If there's overlap, duplication and low-impact stuff that should be stopped (and Tim Davie says there is) it's in her bailiwick now.
She needs to set out a new stall just as much as the DG, and pretty quick.
