"Special moment"

Day 2 of Tim Davie, and he falls into line with the Conservative style of government, by executing a screeching u-turn over the Last Night of the Proms. Some members of the BBC Singers will step into the LED lights that now festoon the wide open spaces of the Royal Albert Hall, and sing both Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory. No word on Jerusalem. 

Rule Britannia will be presumably hauled out of Wood's Fantasia on British Sea Songs, avoiding the bit of bobbing up and down. It's not yet clear whether the vocals for Land of Hope and Glory will be super-imposed on Anne Dudley's new orchestration or the Elgar original.  

Meanwhile, over in the Commons, Boris Johnson has told MPs that Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden will soon unveil a roadmap for reform of the BBC. Suspect there'll be fewer u-turns in that one...
