The future of All Perspectives, the holding company for GB News, a new news channel, looks strong today with the arrival of Andrew Neil as chairman and lead presenter. It seems to have at least 25% of the finance it needs with the support of Discovery, and will presumably try to use studios at Chiswick Park.
It also gives John McAndrew a second chance at a channel launch. Until August, he was part of the team trying to start a NBC/Sky News global service, now cancelled. He'll be Head of News and Programmes for GB News. At Sky, he launched The Pledge, featuring Nick Ferrari and a Loose-Women style maul of thinkers like Greg Dyke and June Sarpong. For ITV News, he had less success with After The News, hosted by Nick Ferrari and Emma Barnett for just 19 nights in 2017.
He'll be joined by another Sky veteran, Angelos Frangopoulos, who ran Sky News Australia for fourteen years, and more recently had a spell with Sky News Arabia.
