"Friends" of Tim Davie remain hyper-active. The Sun on Sunday says the new DG has expressed interest in a two tier licence system, with a cut-price basics package, and a premium second level. Either the friends or the Sun or Tim hasn't quite thought this through - what's the difference between an premium, optional, second level service and subscription ? Or is Tim's objection to a subscription funding solution, actually partial ?
"Friends" also reveal to the Sunday Telegraph that Tim 'zoomed' Andrew Neil on his second official day as DG, trying to persuade him back to the BBC.
