It's tricky, this equal pay stuff. If, at Radio 2, you get Zoe Ball to follow Chris Evans, and Chris Evans, in turn had a salary that reflected what Terry Wogan was earning, you end up with a heritage high deal. So for a full year, Zoe now gets £1.36m. That doesn't include fees for co-hosting Strictly: It Takes Two on BBC2.
Given the relative audience figures, if I were Ken Bruce, I'd have a chat with Samira Ahmed's legal team. Ken is on £385k. Around 28% of Ms Ball's radio fees.
(Ken is close to £100k better off than he was last year; Vanessa Feltz has added £75k to her package, taking her to £405k.)
