Some of the BBC's financial future is tied up with work by Rhodri Talfan-Davies. He's been charged with working out how you might save money in an organisation that managed to stay on air with 90% of its staff working from home.
Rhodri is Director of BBC Wales/Cymru, but, like other directors outside London, gets 'projects' handed out by the 'centre'. Indeed, his BBC career was kickstarted by an invitation from Mark Thompson in 2011 to lead on "What will audiences want from the BBC in a converged, fully digital world ?", when he was just head of strategy and communications in Cardiff. Within the year, he was upped to overall boss - but now, hasn't moved for nine years.
Rhodri is 49. Ken MacQuarrie, the Director of Nations and Regions, is at least 68.
