At BBC Studios, nee Worldwide, people are wondering who'll succeed Tim Davie, and why his operational lieutenant, Paul Dempsey, isn't interested in promotion.
Paul (Xaverian College, Manchester, Liverpool University and Kellogg School of Management) came to the BBC over 22 years ago, after spells in sales for Mars and time with EMAP. He was anointed President of Global Distribution in September 2019, and set up full-time in New York.
There, at 1120 Avenue of the Americas, he is supported by, at least, a Senior Vice President, Research & Strategy; a Senior Vice President Digital Strategy and Franchise Business Management; a General Counsel; two Senior Vice Presidents, HR; an HR Co-ordinator; a Payroll and Benefits Co-ordinator; a Vice President of Technology and Facilities; a Vice President, Corporate Communications & Events; a Vice President of Communications; a Director of Communications; a Director Sales and Co-Pro; an Associate, Events and Internal Communications; etc, etc. That's without adding the staff based in Los Angeles.
