Knot tied

Alan Yentob, 73, and his partner Philippa Walker, 65, have formally tied the knot, at Bridgwater Registry Office, now based in the town's public library. They have cohabited for more than 39 years. The wedding breakfast was back at Mr Yentob's nearby retreat, said to be a Tudor mansion, his base during lockdown, with catering by Ruthie Rogers.

He tells the Mail "After spending so much time together in lockdown, we decided it was time to get married. I even have a ring on my finger to prove it, which feels very strange after all this time."

"Our kids had got used to the idea of being illegitimate, but now we've legitimised them. They're very pleased for us."
