It looks like there will be a Brain of Britain 2020 after all. The venerable quiz show, first heard in emerging form in 1953, was brought to a halt by lockdown, at Heat 6. Heat 7 gets on the air at 3pm this afternoon, with the second run at 11pm on Saturday.
It was deemed risky to continue with a Zoom version, as Britain's variable broadband speeds and connections might have conferred advantages to some contestants buzzing in. So now contestants have been gathered in one of MediacityUK's largest recording spaces - but without the encouragement of a live audience.
