House selection

Congratulations to Owenna Griffiths, the new executive editor of Today. (Some have seen this new title as a diminution of the job; I think it indicates some wider powers to come).

Owenna has used her Cambridge anthropology degree to negotiate the jungle of the BBC News division with patience, through political programmes, Newsround, Today, World at One and PM. The new gig may give her a chance to see more of hubby Daniel, commissioning factual programmes-but-not-Today at R4 HQ since June. Owenna has settled down Evan Davies at PM; can she sandpaper some of the hard skin of misjudged self-confidence off Nick Robinson and Justin Webb?

Dad is former Thatcher adviser Lord Griffiths of Forestfach, once a board member at Goldman Sachs.
