I've no doubt Normal People is an enormous BBC3 success.
I'm still anxious about the way the Corporation reports this success. Apparently the series has more than doubled the online channel's previous record for requests in a week, from 10.8m to 21.8m.
Normal People accounts for 16.2m of that record figure. But then, there were 12 episodes, and I suspect each request for each episode is counted. Which would point to an average iPlayer audience for the series of 1.35m.
And if a BBC3 drama gets a run in key primetime BBC1 during a lockdown, is it really typical ?
