Jake Kanter at Deadline says the process to recruit a new BBC DG is moving forward, despite the lockdown.
His sources tell him 'a consensus is emerging around [Tim] Davie as the frontrunner', and that there may have been a shedding of some names in the shortlist, without formal interviews taking place.
He's certain of one thing "One person who will not be taking part in the formal process to replace Hall is Jay Hunt, Apple’s creative director of worldwide video." Phew.
There's been some musing about Will Lewis, the former Telegraph editor, now leaving News Corp-owned Dow Jones in uncertain circumstances after a six year contract. Boris Johnson was a columnist in Lewis' time at the Telegraph; former Beeboid Robert Peston is a friend and confidant. Is that really enough to be a late candidate ?
