In the mad BBC world of giving and taking away, the Radio 5Live financial programme, Wake Up To Money is shortly to expand, filling the 0500 weekday gap left by the cancellation of Morning Reports.
And yet, two much-loved stalwarts of the show, Mickey Clarke and Louise Cooper have been told their freelance contracts will end in four weeks' time. A good employment lawyer might note Mickey Clarke's presence on the network since 1994.
Louise has made it clear on Twitter that they are not very expensive freelances. But clearly, someone's decided there's a cheaper way of filling the airtime. Heaven forfend that someone thinks they're too old....
