Unconvincing

The new Controller Radio 4, Mohit Bakaya, in post since last July, has exposed himself to scrutiny in The Times (pay walled).

You might think that Mo, essentially a BBC lifer, had only just started listening to the output. Asked to name fresh new comedy shows that have done well recently, he can't remember (a bit like most of his audience) but emails the interviewer afterwards to suggest ReincarNathan, The Skewer, and Sarah Kendall: Australian Trilogy.

Other than appointing Chris Mason to Any Questions? and moving More or Less to replace the woeful Only Artists, there's not much sign of activity. Apparently "his team is conducting a deep data analysis to establish which shows are still loved by audiences and which are 'a little tired' ". If you can't work that out after being with for the Beeb for more than 25 years, 12 of them as a commissioning editor on R4, it's hard to know why you got the job.
