Joined-up thinking

BBC News seems determined to cancel the Victoria Derbyshire show, because, according to news boss Fran Unsworth, "it is no longer cost-effective to continue producing the programme on television.”

Ms Derbyshire quotes latest overnights for her show at 288k, Newsnight at 297k, and the presumably comparable hour on Sky News at 70k.

The most recent figures from Barb show no news programme on BBC Scotland reaching more than 47,000 for the week beginning 6th January; those figures cover the whole UK, not just Scotland. The channel's news output has a roster of 15 presenters and reporters, as part of the creation of 80 journalist posts associated with the channel launch.
