The BBC may be looking forward to a future producing less content, but it's certainly not reining back on marketing effort. Chief Customer Officer Kerris Bright, who effectively eased out Director of Marketing and Audiences, Philip Almond at the end of 2018, has appointed Paul Davies, from Microsoft's UK operations, as Director of Marketing & Audiences for Content, Radio & Education, after a four-month hunt.

Mr Davies studied management science at Warwick, then picked up a Chartered Institute of Marketing diploma from the University of the West Of England. Then another diploma from Cranfield, and a leadership course at the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. He started out with Royal Sun Alliance, helped launch the More Than insurance brand, and then moved to  Directline. He's been with Microsoft UK since 2007.

Paul is currently in an eight-week training programme to take part in an improv-comedy show for the Marketing Academy, raising funds for Comic Relief. Here's a tweet from fellow-funster, CMO for the Trustee Savings Bank, Peter Markey, with a little video of Paul.
