ITV's The Masked Singer averaged 5.5m in the overnight audience figures. Against it, BBC1's return of The Greatest Dancer, featuring sperm and publicity-seeker, the tearful Cheryl, attracted 3.2m. We don't yet have the figures for the new BBC1 game show, First and Last, featuring Jason Manford, but the omens are not good.
BBC commissioners occasionally pile behind a new-ish presenter, and then get bored. 2017 was the year of Susan Calman. 2019 was all Paddy McGuinness. Let's hope 2020's not Manford.
