"This isn’t about saving money - the amount we spend on Newsround will stay the same." Thus Paul Plunkett, Editor Newsround, defending the decision to cut the teatime television bulletin on CBBC. You could argue that a standstill is the wrong approach within an organisation haemorrhaging young consumers.
Mr Plunkett (St Edwards College Liverpool and BA English, Liverpool John Moores University) came to what he calls the Newsround 'brand' ten months ago. He was previously an Assistant Editor in BBC Sport Interactive, from previous sports roles with the Liverpool Echo and Lancashire Telegraph.
