It seems there's more than one channel of negotiation going on as Andrew Neil tries to land an interview with Boris Johnson; The Great Scot seems to have shared some inside information with The Thinner Scot, James Forsyth, Political Editor of The Spectator (Mr Neil is chairman of Press Holdings, owners of The Spectator).
It seems Mr Johnson was/is due to face The Other Scot, Andrew Marr, on BBC1 on Sunday morning. The Neil line is that Johnson should surrender that slot for a pre-record with The Great Scot. This, of course, would leave Mr Marr grumpy, and his programme out of that vital political balance in fair campaign coverage. Not really the best united front from the BBC....
