One reason that Garry Richardson may have ended his time at Radio 5Live's Sportsweek is an upcoming theatre tour.
He's billed as the host of Wireless Wise, which features impressionist Alistair McGowan, the Reverend Richard Coles, and newsreader Charlotte Green, with a different 'special' guest depending on where in the country they are. It's billed as "A Celebration of Radio 4", "a show packed with hilarious anecdotes, sketches and music. Together these presenters have appeared on the airwaves of BBC Radio 4 for over 2 centuries." There was what looked like a pilot at the Chichester Festival Theatre back in January.
It comes from Highfield Productions, not the BBC. Wireless Wise was also the title of a Radio 4 quiz series, about radio, which ran for four series from 1999, hosted by the former managing director of radio/straightman on I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, David Hatch.
