It's a good idea for those in 'acting' roles in the BBC to demonstrate their creativity, flair and competence in the job.
Carla-Maria Lawson, Acting Head of BBC Daytime ("Multi award-winning Commissioner and Executive Producer responsible for some of the most successful titles across the schedules on BBC One and BBC Two") is bringing back Ready Steady Cook, which started 25 years ago - so old, the recipes were carried on CEEFAX. It was cancelled in 2010: the Head of Daytime at that point, Liam Keelan, said "BBC Daytime is constantly looking at ways to innovate and refresh our programme formats and, while the series has been hugely popular on BBC2, it was felt that Ready Steady Cook has been taken as far as it could."
Carla-Maria tells us why Liam was wrong: “Ready Steady Cook is a celebration of the much loved BBC One Daytime show, reimagined for contemporary Britain. The premise of healthy, aspirational food being prepared against the clock will be familiar to the audience, as will the iconic red tomatoes and green peppers! This will be a series for the modern day featuring a brigade of exciting new culinary talent and with Celebrity MasterChef finalist, Rylan at the helm, a teatime treat for a whole new generation of viewers.”
