In it together

Excellent to see Emily Maitlis, the Newsnight presenter recently roughed up by the BBC Executive Complaints Unit, describe them as "massively out of touch with the real world", at a public event picked up on by The Observer.

Ms Maitlis was speaking about the case of Naga Munchetty, who's the name in the frame for a "partially upheld" ECU verdict for comments on racist Tweets from US President Donald Trump. According the Secret Hawkeye of News operated by some BBC journalists close to retirement, her remarks crossed a line others find hard to spot.

A Change petition in support of Ms Munchetty is close to 10,000 signatures at time of writing.
