Let's hope we don't hear the footsteps.
The new BBC Concert Hall at Stratford Waterfront may have plants or people on its roof. The London Legacy Corporation has invited tenders for around £1.9m for roofing works for the adjacent University of Arts, Victoria and Albert Museum and BBC Concert Hall buildings. "The works required comprise the supply and fixing (and design where applicable) of inverted, green and brown roofing systems, including paved areas."
Green roofs use any plants that will survive; brown roofs require local plants; inverted roofs have the waterproofing underneath insulation and paving.
