Can James Purnell be a little swifter in appointing a new Controller of Radio 5Live than he was at Radio 4 ? Interviews are set for September 9th, under four weeks away, and candidates are asked for a short presentation on their vision and strategy. Maybe James can get back from Salford on the evening train.
It doesn't take more than basic maths to suggest that a female appointment would improve the gender balance of Mr Purnell's top team....
