New model

Christian Ager-Hanssen, the Norwegian raider who was for so long a pain-in-the-butt for Johnston Press, has closed his daily free paper in Sweden. At one time, the Metro, with separate editions in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo, was the most read paper in the country. Now its remaining six journalists have been sacked, and the title will make its only appearance as a website.

The site will apparently have some news, 'purchased' from Ager-Hanssen operations in London, but the business plan requires paid-for 'debate articles'. Private individuals can see their stories on the site for around £420; companies will pay upwards of £2,500.
