The majority of us seem to have found a way to watch last night's soporific Champions League finale by fair means or foul. According to the official BARB overnight ratings, an average of 5.54m were watching from 8pm to 10pm on BT Sport (also offered 'free' to Virgin and Sky subscribers). There'll be many more who were streaming via the BT Sport app - available 'free' for three months to phone users on BT or EE contracts. How many will forget to cancel the automatically triggered subscription at the end of August ?
And some will have suffered the 'free' Youtube version, with 1980s Top of the Pops video effects leaving every fast-moving player with a pixellated day-glo trail behind. Thank God there weren't many fast-moving players on display.
