The BBC is forecasting that in the next three years, podcasting's share of the UK audio world will rise from its current 3%, to close to 14%.
On current figures, live radio listening accounts for a 75% slice of the UK audio pie.
The predication came from BBC Head of Research for Radio and Education, Alison Winter at the RadioDays Europe conference in Lausanne. The same conference heard from Ben Chapman, 'Editorial Lead' for BBC Sounds - "We hope that in the coming months, BBC Sounds will be an international proposition". At the moment, some programmes are not available to download outside the UK and some live streams are restricted because of rights problems.
