Music man ?

I was wrong about James Purnell exercising direct control over 'Music'. He's now proposing a new, wider post, apparently to be called Controller, Pop Music, which would oversee Radio 1, 1Xtra, The Asian Network, Radio 2 and 6 Music, and BBC Music and the Music TV commissioning heads.

This is a post last seen owned by Andy Parfitt, who was called Controller Pop Music when he left in 2011. (Is Radio obliged to hand back re-structuring funding ?)  It now rather hangs over the head of Andy's successor at Radio 1, 1Xtra and The Asian Network, Ben Cooper, 49 - who probably needs to get the big new job or go.
