The Thunderer has been on Radio 4's case for a while now, but the BBC is fighting back on today's letters page. Mr Ellis uses one of his many titles; on the BBC's official website he's billed as Deputy Director, Radio.
BBC CUTBACKS
Sir, It is wrong to suggest presenters are being encouraged not to prepare for interviews or that producers have been asked to read only the back covers of books (“Radio 4 hosts are told not to read up on their guests”, Mar 26). It is true that BBC Radio has to make savings to contribute to the BBC’s overall efficiencies but we shall continue to make programmes to the high standards our listeners expect.
