The BBC is making more of its back catalogue of classical performances available online.
Is this a fact or a preview ? The BBC News website thinks it's happened....
The BBC has announced plans to make its back catalogue of classical music available to the public.
Director general Tony Hall said: 'In an age of ever growing platforms and social media sharing, these historic and recent performances will be returned to the public.'
They will be available on services such as BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sounds app.
Lord Hall revealed the plans at the launch of the BBC's year-long classical music project, Our Classical Century.
The Guardian may have read the release more closely, and thinks this is all ABOUT to be announced.
Speaking on Thursday at the launch of the BBC’s Our Classical Century, a year-long celebration of music programming, Tony Hall is planning to unveil an initiative to make key works in one of the largest publicly owned music archives in the world available on demand.
"Hall is expected to say: 'In an age of ever-growing platforms and social media sharing, these historic and recent performances will be returned to the public as their rightful property.'
