BBC Alba heads to its tenth anniversary on air on 9th September, with a tricky twelve months ahead. Reach amongst Gaelic speakers is down to 62.1% (from 67% in 2016/17 and 74% in 2015/16). It's lost rights to professional rugby union, though it still has two more years to run on a deal with the Scottish Professional Football League. Ofcom, in giving its sanction to the new BBC Scotland channel, coming up in 2019, has warned it will take audience away from BBC Alba.
