Never mind Carrie Gracie. It looks like Cathy Newman, who occasionally fronts Channel 4 News (as well as being a regular sidekick) has quite a claim for back pay.
Lead presenter Jon Snow, 70, tells The Daily Mail, "ITN’s not so good when it comes to equal pay, but I’ve taken a gender pay cut. I did it as a co-operative gesture. I took the cut over two months ago — 25 per cent. Alas, contractually, I am not able to disclose my salary then or now."
The Mail believes Mr Snow, who is contracted by C4 rather than ITN, was on £1m p.a. At £750k, he'd still be on double the BBC's notional news cap of around £320k.
