The doyenne of radio critics, Gillian Reynolds, opined yesterday that she expected commercial talk stations to continuing growing in the UK. RAJAR figures today back her up.
LBC, as a network, is up 22% year on year, to a weekly reach of 2.2m. At the lower end, TalkRADIO is up 32%, to 316k. TalkSPORT is back above 3m, at 3.11m (from 2.72m a year ago). TalkSPORT2 is up to 314k, a 16% rise.
Meanwhile, Radio 5Live is down, from 5.34m to 5.14m and Radio 4 drops from 11.11m to 10.91m. Radio 5Live Sports Extra is up 16%, from 830k to 969k.
