The number of people listening to podcasts has increased by 157% since 2014 in the United States, driven apparently by consumption on smartphones, according to Nielsen. 12.7% of the population now use podcasts.
The same report says AM/FM radio is used by 93% of the US population, compared with 88% for tv.
The second most popular format (after country music) is news/talk, with a 12.3% share.
