The super-long Strictly 2017 opener delivered an average of 8.8m viewers over an hour and forty minutes, according to the overnight viewing figures. The X Factor attracted 5.63m. 8.8m was down from the 9.3m average for the 2016 launch - remember, they had Ed Balls, Louise Redknapp, Judge Rinder and Greg Rutherford.
Len Goodman's Partners In Rhyme is still uncomfortable viewing, and was watched by 1.44m (11.0% share).
ITV can take pleasure in the return of Jonathan Ross - 2.93m (17.1%)
