The Guardian reports that BBC DG Lord Hall is asking outsiders to sort out fair pay. The paper says he's turned to accountants PWC, already clacking at calculators to get near the facts about obvious differentials between World Service and News, and lawyers Eversheds Sutherland to sort the whole organisation.
It was from Eversheds that the BBC signed previous HR Director Lucy Adams, now not sure that any of her policies at the Corporation were right.
In the last century, when Radio was in BH, World Service in Bush, TV in TV Centre and Online on the roof of TVC when not in the bar, there was less chance of casual conversations uncovering systemic pay differentials. It would take someone terrifically sagacious to warn that this was bound to happen when they were all squeezed into Super BH. Indeed, their insights would probably be worth reading on a daily basis.
