Rona Fairhead, who told MPs "I have never been politically active in my life" when selected as BBC Chairman, is to be a life peer and a Conservative International Trade Minister, charged with developing UK export policies.
It's unlikely she'll be able to retain her last non-exec role, with Pepsico.
She joins man-of-mystery Dr Liam Fox at the DIT - a department that has grown five-fold in the past year, without making any noticeable waves. Husband Tom Fairhead, a former Tory councillor for Kensington, flirted with standing as a Conservative candidate in the North East, when Dr Fox was party chairman. Rona was a non-exec member of the Cabinet Office in 2010, standing down when the BBC job arrived.
