In the cut-throat world of Saturday night tv, cheeky-boys Ant and Dec monstered national treasures Mel and Sue, and a repeat of Pointless Celebrities was the highest rating show on BBC1.
Mel & Sue hosted Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief, and despite the charitable appeal, it averaged only 3.36m viewers in the overnight ratings, a 23.3% share of the available audience - and nearly a million switched away over its duration.
Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway featured a live appearance by Mrs Brown (presumably testing the water for a live BBC1 offering later in the year) and averaged 6.99m viewers (34.4% share). The Voice followed, with a respectable 5.06m (25.1% share).
ITV News, at 21.45, bathed warmly in the attention of 2.73m viewers (15.2%). If only those figures could be repeated on weekdays...
