Union of unions

The broadcast, tv and film union BECTU, which represents many BBC staff and freelancers, will drop its affiliation to both the Labour Party and CND, following a vote to merge with the bigger Prospect union. Prospect represents 100,000 professionals in engineering, science and technology; BECTU has 40,000 members.

    So the NUJ remains the strongest union at the Beeb, as it always has been
