Media commentator Neil Midgley at Forbes has handily been given sight of viewing figures for the BBC News Channel. On Brexit result day, Friday 24 June, it reached 4.9 million viewers - up 88% on the average Friday reach. It kept going through Saturday - 4.3m reach, up 39% - and Sunday - 4.6m, up 21 %.
I'm sure this sort of information will be put before the BBC Executive at this month's meeting, when Director of News James Harding comes for guidance on the obvious. The News Channel stays - make your cuts elsewhere.
