The BBC's staff organ, Ariel, is disappearing from public view. Available to all online since 2011, it's to become what the HR world calls "an internal channel". The move is being supervised not by just any old Editor, but a Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Channels Editor (Interim), Matt Eastley.
Matt, 49, has a 2.2 in Modern English Studies from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology, and spent four years with the Essex Chronicle Group, before running the Royal Mail's in-house mag. More recently he's been with Beetroot Publishing (formerly Citigate) which provides staff publications and websites for a range of clients. Along the way, he's also found time to write seven books, most recently a series about past FA Cups told via the stories of fans. He's also a match summariser for BBC Radio Kent.
