Damian Green, 59, MP for Ashford since 1997 (Reading School and PPE, Balliol, Oxford). He joined BBC Radio's Financial Unit after university, and then moved between Channel 4 and The Times, finding time from 1988 to write some those exciting speeches for John Major.
Perhaps the most experienced candidate, he's been keen in recent years to show his groovy side through Twitter, particularly during the Eurovision Song Contest.

He's been chairman of the All Party BBC Group, which gets nice trips and previews. He maintains a season ticket for Reading FC. He's lost some skills in proof-reading.
