Spot of lunch ?

Highlife, the magazine of British Airways, is running a charity auction as part of its partnership with Comic Relief; opening lot (undedited)...

Enjoy lunch with one of the BBC’s legendary foreign correspondents and High Life columnist. On the menu? A unique insight into some of the world’s most complex political situations, garnered from 50 years reporting from across the globe. Lunch will be served at John’s favourite restaurant (and London’s second oldest), Scott’s, which serves the very best in traditional fish and game dishes set in Art Deco surrounds.

 Value: priceless

The current highest bid is £80; with Chicken, Bacon and Quail's Egg Pie the cheapest item on the Meat, Poulty and Game Menu, at £19.50, the bidder looks set for a bargain, at this restaurant also enjoyed more famously by Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson.

  • "I believe the BBC is in its last stages". Thus spake Simpson at a charity event for Winchester Cathedral, according to the Hampshire Chronicle.  Could the Simpson "indefinite contract" perhaps outlast Auntie itself, and how will that work ?
