As the nights draw in, some new programmes begin to appear in the BBC1 schedule. Expect a frisson of frustration from East Anglia: Friday's sitcom, Boomers, set in "Thurnemouth, Norfolk", is actually filmed in Herne Bay, Kent. Think New Tricks meets Heartbeat, via One Foot In The Grave, in a continuing bid to drive the channel's audience older. It currently stands at 59, up from 56 three years ago.
